The Peter Snowden stable was in hot form at the big Scone standalone meeting on Saturday with a feature race double courtesy of three year-old filly Miss Freelove and quality four-year-old old So You Think mare Tuileries, who won the $250,000 Group III Dark Jewel Classic (1400m).
Tuileries won the Group III Newcastle Stakes (1400m) in March and then disappointed in the Group II ATC Emancipation Stakes (1600m) behind subsequent Group I winner Idela Flyer, so connections elected to go back to the drawing board.
Given a little freshen up and sent back to trials on May 1, Tuileries showed her class under top weight of 59.5kg to win by nearly a length with Chad Schofield in the saddle.
“After the Emancipation we decided to reset and start again with her and she's returned great after the trial,” said stable representative Aaron Lau.
"Peter was quietly confident all week that he had her in good shape and she's done the job.
"The Dane Ripper (G2) and Tatts Tiara (G1) are both potential options in Brisbane for her now that her rating is up she'll get into those races comfortably.”
Her sire So You Think has already hit the target in those races with his top class daughter Palaisipan winning both of those races before being purchased by Katsumi Yoshida to go to stud in Japan.
A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase for Snowden Racing/William Johnson Bloodstock from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft, Tuileries runs for a syndicate that includes her breeder Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing.
With five wins from 14 starts and prizemoney topping $545,000, Tuileries can now chart a path to the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Tuileries is the best of two winners from Hediard, a winning half-sister by Bernardini (USA) to stakes-winners Exocet and Ready for Victory from the family of Group I winning juvenile Meurice.
Hediard has a yearling filly by Justify (USA) and a weanling filly by King’s Legacy.
Tuileries is one of eight stakes-winners this season for much missed Coolmore favourite So You Think, who died last spring after covering 75 mares so his last foals will be born this year.
